"I want everybody to know what is still happening to my guys": A conversation with an attorney who has represented dozens of New Yorkers who lost work, careers, and health under NYC's vaccine mandates
Excellent interview and thank you Christina Martinez for fighting so hard for these guys. I was a NYC teacher for 20 years and resigned over the vaccine mandate. I picked up and moved my family and we uprooted to Tennessee where none of these mandates ever existed. It was very hard, I took a huge paycut, left my friends and my world in NY and had to start all over again in the Tennessee schools. I can completely relate to everything that was said about it being traumatic. People should have the right to just refuse any type of medical intervention without justifying why. Every person I have met in TN had no clue that the mandates in the NYC public sector was even a thing. Their lives and jobs were unaffected. We must keep speaking up and fighting and I pray every single person who was affected by these mandates sees some type of compensation. It's been 4 years since I left NYC, but the memories are fresh in my mind. We must make sure this never happens again in NY or anywhere in this country as it was criminal what they got away with. I wonder why I was too dangerous to teach in a classroom in NYC, but completely safe in a classroom in Tennessee. I would love for Mayors Diblasio and Adams to explain that one to me. Thank you again for fighting so hard for the workers of NYC.
